Reality TV Star, Jill Zarin, Show's HARTFORD She's All In

Lisa Wexler, host of Cox Radio’s Lisa Wexler show; Ronda Giangreco, author of “The Gathering Table;” Jill Zarin, reality television star; and Lisa Gerrol, president of the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, pose at the 2012 Women Against MS Luncheon, held Thursday, Nov. 15, at the HARTFORD Convention Center. Giangreco, a featured speaker at the luncheon, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2008.

The news came with a twist of irony as years before, her husband’s mother had passed away from complications of MS when he was just 16 years old and living in WETHERSFIELD. Today, the couple lives in California. When told by her doctor that he could not say how much longer she would retain the ability to walk, Giangreco decided that her next steps would lead to the kitchen, a place she cherished. Giangreco’s book details her quest to host 52 meals, one each Sunday for a year, for a table of eight - her way of defying the disease and it’s unpredictable effects through food, wine and friendship. Keynote speakers Lisa Wexler, FAIRFIELD, and her sister, Jill Zarin, the breakout star of Bravo’s hit series _The Real Housewives of New York City_, shared excerpts from “Secrets of a Jewish Mother,” an entertaining and engaging instructional book they co-authored with their mother Gloria Kamen, an advice columnist. The benefit luncheon, which featured boutique shopping before and after the luncheon, attracted more than 230 guests and raised about $50,000 to support people in Connecticut battling multiple sclerosis.
