Childhood Conversations
Mark your calendars and register for the 7th Annual Childhood Conversations Conference, Saturday, April 13th, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Meriden. The 2013 conference, "Covering All the Bases," offers workshops for parents, educators and advocates on home and family, schools, community and the world, and the digital world. The price of the event includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, free parking, workshops and conference materials.
"The Childhood Conversations Conference brings local and national speakers to parents and professionals to learn about relevant topics that deal with children ages 0 -9 today," said Ken Anthony, co-founder of the Childhood Conversations Conference and the director of professional development for the CT After School Network. "Over the years, this conference has brought together parents, educators, and advocates interested in learning tools and thoughts from leaders in the field of early childhood, nutrition, education, child development, parenting, and other disciplines. Our audience has expanded to include professionals in early childhood, social work, and education sectors, while still maintaining our parent base."
This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Steve Sobel. Dr. Sobel is a nationally acclaimed speaker, educator, author and coach. A former award-winning principal and special education director, Sobel has had his work profiled in the Hartford Courant, Boston Globe and on INSIDE EDITION and writes for many professional publications. He is the author of "The Good Times Handbook -Your Guide to Positive Living and an Exciting Life" and numerous CD/DVD programs. Dr. Sobel also taught early childhood education at Berkshire Community College and special education courses at CCSU for ten years.
On Friday, April 12, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., a pre-conference reception is planned, offering networking opportunities and a panel discussion.
