Dr. Cook Windsor Interim Superintendent of Schools
Dr. Craig Cooke, currently the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources for Windsor Public Schools (Conn.) has been appointed to be Interim Superintendent of the Windsor Public Schools (Conn.). Dr. Cooke will replace Windsor Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey A. Villar who is leaving the district to become the Executive Director for the Connecticut Council for Education Reform (CCER).
Dr. Cooke has served as Assistant Superintendent for the Windsor Public Schools (Conn.) since 2009. He was appointed for Windsor’s top education post last night during a special meeting of the Board of Education. He will work alongside Dr. Villar until his departure on October 29th and will assume his duties as Interim Superintendent of Schools on October 30th. The Windsor Board of Education will begin conducting a national search for a permanent School Superintendent.
“Dr. Cooke is a great asset to our district. This decision allows for the continuity of the important work underway in the district - development and implementation of quality curricula by highly motivated and professional staff in a positive learning environment where each child has the opportunity to discover their genius”, says Doreen Richardson, President of the Windsor Board of Education. “The Board looks forward to deepening its collaboration with Dr. Cooke as we transform Windsor Public schools into a district of distinction.”
