DUI Checkpoint March 14
The Windsor Police Department will be conducting A D.U.I. checkpoint on Thursday March 14, 2013. This checkpoint will focus on drivers who are operating motor vehicles under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. We will be conducting this checkpoint through our partnership with METRO TRAFFIC SERVICES as well as the NORTH CENTRAL REGIONAL TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT squads. Both MTS & NCTE are multi-jurisdictional teams of officers dedicated to increasing motor vehicle safety. The Windsor Police Department has received a Federal Highway Safety grant through the Connecticut Department of Transportation Division of Highway Safety to help offset the cost of a SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT to be conducted by METRO TRAFFIC SERVICES.
The checkpoint will be held on Route 75(Poquonock Avenue) at Route 20. The checkpoint will operate between 5:00 P.M. on Friday through 1:00 A.M on Friday.
Officers will be enforcing State DUI laws as well as other motor vehicle laws including Seatbelt and Child Safety Seat statutes.
There will also be Officers operating D.U.I. patrols throughout the Town of Windsor.
Officers from several of the METRO TRAFFIC SERVICES towns; Windsor, Manchester, East Windsor, South Windsor, Vernon, Coventry, Glastonbury, Windsor Locks and Enfield may be at this checkpoint along side Officers from the North Central regional towns of Avon, Bloomfield, Canton, Farmington, Granby, Simsbury, and Suffield.
