NWC faculty member Andrew Selig ‘06, whose family owns Bill Selig Ford in Windsor, is all smiles as he presents checks totaling $3,410 to Sara D. Avery, an English teacher and Director of Theater at Northwest Catholic – the proceeds of a creative fundraiser held this past October.
The money was raised on Oct. 22, 2011, during Selig’s “Drive One 4 UR School” test-driving fundraiser at NWC. For each adult who test-drove a Ford or Lincoln on that day, Ford donated $20 to NWC, with an additional $10 for each Ford Focus that was driven. All proceeds were earmarked for the NWC Drama Department.
Many NWC students helped with the test-drive fundraiser, including Dramateurs (from left) Joe Anquillare ’12 of Newington, Saralynne Brown ’12 of Windsor, Dan Lusardi ’13 of Windsor, Adrian Hatch ’13 of Simsbury, and Chris Lynch ’12 of West Hartford.
“Northwest Catholic is very grateful to Ford, and Bill Selig Ford in particular, for making this event possible for the benefit of the NWC Dramateurs,” Mrs. Avery said.
The Dramateurs’ spring musical, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” will be presented at NWC on March 23, 24, and 25, 2012.
Since 1961, cultivating students’ artistic gifts has been a critical component of NWC’s mission to educate the whole person -- mind, body, spirit, and soul. The Entrance Exam for prospective students will be offered again on Jan. 28, 2012, for students who were unable to take it when it was offered in December 2011; for information, contact Maryann Lacouture (
